Find Specific Books or Articles

Summary

  • If  you have the article or book information or citation you can use Primo Search to locate a copy.
  • Search for the item’s full title and the Everything search Scope.
  • Check the Availability under the item the Primo search results to see where it is located  (Online, at CUW, at another library). 
  • If an electronic copy appears in the results, use the links to access online.
  • Search Primo for individual journal article by titles and request electronic copies of journal articles CUW Library doesn’t have online.

Find an Article

Best Bet: Primo Everything Search

  • To see if the article is online, first search for the full article title without punctuation (. , ; : ).
  • If you have an PMID or DOI, try using the Citation Lookup. Be sure to select article at the top.
  • Check the information provided in the search results under the article or book title matches with the item you are looking for.

Find a Book Chapter

  • For book chapters, first search for the full book title without punctuation (. , ; : )
  • If you have an ISBN, try using the Citation Lookup. Be sure to select the book at the top.
  • Check the information provided in the search results under the book title matches with the item you are looking for.

Find Books by title (1 min)

Requesting One Chapter

  • If the book  is online, you can locate and download the chapter you need from the book’s table of contents inside the database.
  • If the book is in print, you will need to log-in to Primo and request a scanned copy of the chapter.
    • Depending on who owns the item you might see one of three request options under Physical:
      • CUW Scan Chapter Option
      • SWITCH Request
      • Request it (CUW Students Faculty & Staff)
    • Fill out the form with the chapter information

Find Journals (by Title)

For some articles you will have to located the journal first to find the article.

  • Journals can be in print, microfilm, or online formats.
  • CUW Library print/paper journals are located in the South Wing.
  • CUW students can also request print journal articles from SWITCH Libraries.

You must know the journal title, article title, year, volume, issue, and pages of the article before requesting/finding a print article.

Request SWITCH Print Journals

Article scans from print journals from SWITCH libraries can be requested via Primo.

  1. Use the advanced search to search for the journal title, with material type Journals in SWITCH Libraries.

2. Fill out the form with the article information and click Send Request.

If the  article you need is available, your request will appear in your Library Account under “My requests”.

Request Articles and Books the Library Doesn't Own

If you have searched Primo and Google Scholar and still can’t find the article, submit an Inter-library Loan or ILL Request.
